The Ekka is Queensland's largest event, spanning over 10 days, and showcasing entertainment, exhibitions, pavilion displays, and side show alley and rides. It attracts 400,000+ visitors each year and growing. To compliment their online solution, a viral game and digital strategy was required for the event promotion.
JSA MassMedia designed the idea and concept on an interactive and viral online game. The game was themed around side-show-alley with the simple goal to throw a ball at a set of tins to topple them over. With fun 'side-show-alley' sounds the game was simple and effective.
Regardless of your result, at the end of the game you were invited to forward the game to 3 friends, then you get entered into the competition to win free entry tickets.
High scores were recorded in a leaderboard area to promote competition, once you were in the draw your details were 'opted-in' to receive future email marketing.
The simple game & viral nature grew the EKKA marketing database to over 60,000 individual email addresses
